Andy Taft Charitable Trust - Objectives

The Andy Taft Charitable Trust will work in conjunction with other agencies, authorities and groups, both nationally and locally, in order to achieve its objectives as indicated below.

1. To advance the protection and preservation of human life by supporting the provision of immediate medical pre-hospital care to persons involved in road trafic accidents in Staffordshire and the surrounding areas.

In order to achieve the above objective, the trust will operate as a grant-making body.

It is the intention of the trust to invite local voluntary organisations, or charities, that are directly involved in the provision of immediate medical pre-hospital care to submit their written applications to the trust for the possible funding of specific items of equipment and or services, as deemed appropriate.

Any applications which are subsequently approved will receive a grant from the trust, thereby facilitating the partial or total funding of items or services detailed in the application.

2. To advance the preservation and protection of good health of motorcyclists and their families who have been involved in, or suffered a loss through a road trafic accident in Staffordshire and the surrounding areas by facilitating support networks.

In order to achieve the above objective, the trust will give verbal information, written information, moral support, and offer other appropriate information about relevant organisations that may be useful to those individuals and families who have been involved in, or suffered a loss through a road trafic accident.

3. To advance the education of the public in motorcyclist safety, in particular but not exclusively, by raising the profile of road safety awareness and by promoting motorcycle training initiatives.

In order to achieve the above objective, the trust will organise a number of events locally, with the purpose of proactively helping to reduce motorcyclist causalities. These events will enhance, encourage and sustain awareness of all road users.

What is the Andy Taft Charitable Trust

The Andy Taft Charitable Trust has been in operation since 3rd June 2006. Much work has been done by the trustees since establishing the trust, which was formed in a direct response to the devastating loss of life suffered by Andy Taft, who hailed from Stoke-on-Trent, in a motorcycle accident in November 2005.

Needless to say, this tragedy had a huge impact on Andy's family, friends and colleagues, who were determined to establish some form of lasting tribute to Andy. After many weeks of planning and preparation, the Andy Taft Charitable Trust was finally unveiled.

Recently, the Charity Commission gave official notification that the submitted application made by ATCT to become a registered charity had been successful, with registered charity status being awarded to ATCT as of 15 January 2007.
